I Wait
I wait
I feel my heart beat wildly and slowly look to the door
I’m sure that you are there
I can feel your presence
I sense the way you touch me though your hand I can not see
I close my eyes and I know that it is you as the scent of your cologne fills the room
Quietly, I settle into the chair waiting to hear a whisper or a sigh
Wanting to hear the sound of your voice
Praying to look again into your deep blue eyes but you’re not here
I know that nothing that I have is the same as it once was
I understand that it never can be again, yet I wait
Patiently I listen as if that moment is upon me
Nothing, I turn, and still nothing
I wait only to be disappointed but I know that you are here
I feel you and whether it is real or imagined I hope
I cling to the hope that someday I will see you standing before me again
I wait and I will continue to wait
