I Tried

I tried to be the one who would comfort you when you were crying

I tried to be the one that was there for you when everyone was dying

I tried to be the one to give a helping hand whenever you could not reach

I tried to be the one to take you to church and listen to the pastors preach

I tried to be the one to take your broken heart and mend it

No matter the amount of money, on you I'd rather spend it

I tried to be your support system, the one you could always lean on

But for some reason, on your mind, I've never been on

I tried to be the friend , the father and mother that you never had

Because you've been through it all and I know it hurts so bad

I tried to be the one who always helped you get back on your feet

And now you look at my number in your phone and pressed delete

For all the things I've done for you I ask for nothing in return

I just hope that in time you'll find the peace that you deserve
