I Told You
I told you that you were a ray of sunshine,
In my endless supply of cloudy days.
I told you that I cared for you,
In that ocean of violent waves.
I told you that I carried you,
Through that frigid, cold harbor.
I told you that I hated you,
Over the field of melted lava.
I told you that I wanted to marry you,
Across that field of yellow flowers.
I told you that I lied to you,
Outside this raging fire.
I told you that we would be together,
But that's simply not the truth.
For life does just the opposite,
And makes me sit alone in this booth.
I told you that I needed you,
When I wasn't doing well.
Now I truly need you,
Since I'm in this depressive spell.
I love you my dear,
But you won't come tonight.
So the gun forces me to choose...
Was this decision right?
