I Thank Him
With autumn’s footfall starting to fade away
came November when it was time to visit USA,
where my elder daughter and her family lived,
to be with them for a special day to be celebrated.
When the gentle winds whistled through the trees,
the burst of colors blazed their defoliated canopy,
the amber leaves whispered in the chill of crisp air,
reminding us it was the awaited Thanksgiving time.
Moonbeam saturated the satin sky with silky shine,
sprayed silver dust inside through the window glass.
The rows of candles on the sills displayed dazzling art,
lighting up the sparks of excitement in our heart.
Room-full of wafting smell of freshly roasted turkey,
laced with the odor of sizzling potato and apple pie,
crystal glasses filled to the brim with Bordeaux wine,
allured us to dine together, sharing the joy of the night.
In the gleam of the twilight hour as I walk the last mile,
I travel down the memory lane to that distant night,
feel grateful for the bliss as a boon of God’s blessing,
and I thank Him for I know it was He who gave it to me.
