I Still Wonder
Babe, I tried to make me clearer
That very day, but you wouldn’t listen
Instead kept deaf ears to reasons
And rather looked the other way in dead silence –
Stiffnecked like lifeless mgbada.
Uloma, I have severally searched my mind
To know why, how, things got such sour
And the goodwills we shared in a flash dashed
To squander on the alter of what I know not
But am lost in whole thing, with no reason to find.
And so, here daily I stay to sulk
In the sorrow of a widow,
And in the loneliness of an orphan:
I dwell to lick my wound
To wonder when you come back to me –
Finding no reason to live without you –
Without hearing your fine voice –
Without seeing your beautiful orbs winked in love –
Without your sweet kisses that drove me crazy.
And I say, “ Uloma, where are you?!”
Babe, I tried to make me clearer
That very day, but you wouldn’t listen
Instead kept deaf ears to reasons
And rather looked the other way in dead silence –
Stiffnecked like lifeless mgbada.
Uloma, I have severally searched my mind
To know why, how, things got such sour
And the goodwills we shared in a flash dashed
To squander on the alter of what I know not
But am lost in whole thing, with no reason to find.
And so, here daily I stay to sulk
In the sorrow of a widow,
And in the loneliness of an orphan:
I dwell to lick my wound
To wonder when you come back to me –
Finding no reason to live without you –
Without hearing your fine voice –
Without seeing your beautiful orbs winked in love –
Without your sweet kisses that drove me crazy.
And I say, “ Uloma, where are you?!”
