I Stand Here

I stand here at the center of a world, a bi-polar magnet repelling some enticing others for gravity defies its own law. I long to reach to touch them all, redirect their lives forgetting I was once adrift as they – full throttle, no compass, destination – somewhere. I stand alone as time must hang its hands on history. ©10/6/2018 contest - I Stand Here sponsor – Craig Cornish

My favorite line 'gravity defies/its own law' also moved by the closing, compelling blend of optimism and regret, congratulations on your placement!

Love the second stanza. My nephew also in the same boat. Those that overcome, not necessarily devoid of all suffering, that long to help and lead others to the other side. Congratulations, John!

"full throttle, no compass, destination – somewhere." I guess we all went through that, at some point. I love this poem and I'm sure Craig will too.

This line is one I cannot get out of my head- it means much to me. "a bi-polar magnet repelling some, enticing others." I know when you wrote this you had no idea, but in a way, I want to claim this line not as my own, but as a testament to how fabulously terrific your poem is. Good luck in the contest, John.
