I Stand Here
I stand here
at the center of a world,
a bi-polar magnet
repelling some
enticing others
for gravity defies
its own law.
I long to reach
to touch them all,
redirect their lives
forgetting I was once adrift
as they –
full throttle, no compass,
destination – somewhere.
I stand alone
as time must hang
its hands
on history.
