I Should Have Protected You More

I Should Have Protected You More

From the moment you entered this world, you illuminated my existence.
The sister my soul had always longed for.
Your care and protection became my refuge,
the quiet reason my days continued.

Your tears… your laughter…
your worries
wove themselves into my life
as if we had been born from the same heartbeat.

I should have protected you more.

The honor of seeing you, of calling you mine, was a sacred miracle.
The purest gift God ever placed in my hands.
Our eternal love felt unbreakable.
Beloved sister, my twin soul,
my voice in silence,
my confidant, my eyes,
my partner in life’s dance,
my perfect half,
my most living memory.

I should have protected you more.

We hid from the world,
locking ourselves inside laughter and embraces,
making promises with our eyes.
It looked like happiness…
but reality was waiting in the shadows.

I should have protected you more.

Life unfolded through stumbles and fleeting joys,
through obstacles concealing a deep, hidden pain.
While I confessed my wounds,
you fought battles in an invisible hell.
You smiled…
offering the world a life many dreamed of.

I should have protected you more.

I remember the final embrace,
so tight it still lives in my bones.
We said “I love you”
as if time were eternal.
A sacred code,
a language no death can erase.

And I should have protected you more.

I watched you leave.
Your gaze, your pallor,
silenced my existence.
Since then,
only emptiness dares to speak your name.
