I Should Be Home By Now

The road is long Cold and deserted Shadows stretch across the lonely highway Although the seat beside me is empty I hear your voice calling me Asking me where I am My heart aches knowing you are so far away Why did I leave? There was no reason for this trip No reason for me to have left you behind It is only now as I see the setting sun And I know that you are settling in for the night That I realize that no matter what No matter what I see on he road No matter how many stars are in the sky above I know that there is only one place for me I should be home by now Home in your arms Where I belong

Yes we find ourselves in situations, and wonder why we are there, but it's because of choices we make. Like the old George Jones song "Living and Dying With The Choices I've Made," Have a good one, Sincerely Moses

Such a beautiful poem filled with reflection, longing and vivid images. You ask questions I have asked myself when leaving a loved one behind. Sometimes we leave because we feel we have no choice, but the "what ifs" linger in our mind as we embark on our new journey. Lovely poem, Rob! Love, Carolyn
