I Sat Alone

I could not think
I could not sleep
What could I do,
Well I could weep.

I locked my door
I hid away,
No sense of time
Night or day.

For what's the point
You had gone,
There's nothing left
You were the one.

I shut the curtains
Unplugged the phone,
Slumped in my chair
And sat, alone.

To write something this simply, this unadorned, yet to make a 'sudden impact' takes a special skill-- congrats on your win in Brian's contest, Gary.
