I Reminisce, I Miss

I reminisce, I miss: those days of yesteryear, when life seemed so simple; when as children we would play outside from morn til dusk riding bikes, hide and seek playing softball in the street, running, chasing, catching, laughing, full of life. I reminisce, I miss: hanging out with friends, sharing secrets, sharing dreams, sleepovers where little sleep was had; when the future was bright, and the sky was the limit, when life stretched on forever - we were invincible! But now time grows shorter, and youth has lost its blush, as the years turn golden. So I remember the days of yesteryear with fondness and longing. But I embrace the gift of today. I reminisce, I miss. 3/25/21 For James Edward Lee's I Reminisce, I Miss Contest

Excellent memories and well written. We all had happy days when we had youth, love, fun but with least responsibility! I like your wise line that brings us down to ground again ‘But I embrace the gift of today’! Happiness in life is from contentment, Grief from our unending wants. Congrats on your top win!

I miss those simple years too - even the year before last was a simple year compared to 2020 which was certainly not simple! " when life seemed so simple;" Yes!

You chose a great approach for the contest, Kim. I think most of us miss the joys of youth. It is important, as you say, to "embrace the gift of today." At some point, the experiences you have today will seen like the "good old days." Enjoyed and wish you success in the contest! Hugs, Carolyn

Excellent Kim. Love the last stanza. Youth has lost it's blush and you remember and miss the days of youth but embrace the gift of today. dy-no-mite wording. God Bless my friend, JB

Simply beautiful. You took me on a journey back in old times when life was harsh but better. To be alive today is indeed a gift. Best for a win.

Excellent, and perfect for James's contest! GL. I found it particularly interesting because I took the same approach/form for writing on this theme.
