I Remember

Sometimes I sit and think about the way you used to be
The looks you used to give
The time we used to spend, and how sweet you were to me
I close my eyes and reminisce about the compliments you gave
How you would check on me and ask about my day
Those are just that, distant memories
How quickly those things fade
Now the only thing I get from you, is a bunch of shade
I thought you were my dream come true
I thought that I could trust you
I should’ve known better, you were too good to be true
I should’ve been a little smarter
Should’ve thought with my mind instead of my heart
I just didn’t think the day would come, when we'd fall apart
Its ok, I’ll be fine
You know what they say, love is blind
So next time, I’ll close my heart and open my eyes.
