I Must Carpe Diem

I used to live life full of dreams
Planning, for many years to come.
Where I will be, when I will go,
A future that was filled with fun.

Till the day my life was shattered.
Till the day when the hammer struck.
All my dreams now torn asunder
Nowhere to hide, nowhere to duck.

I stood my battles, fought the fight
We gathered and said our goodbyes,
Yet through all of your brave faces,
I could still hear the silent cries.

Last Will and Testament written,
Everything important was said,
“I love you,” still that magic word,
I’d sleep in peace tucked in my bed.

Then something magical happened,
I came back from places of dread.
Now more a part of the living,
Each day I get stronger instead.

Now I know what’s most important
Enjoy precious moments each day,
Learned not to live for tomorrows
That just might not come anyway.

I enjoy each sip of coffee,
Watching leaves turn colours and fly,
Kisses from my sweet little dog,
Every time I see a blue sky.

The music of my Children’s voices,
Love of family never ends,
Carpe Diem, just seize the day,
That is my new motto my friends.

Seize the Moment (Carpe Diem)

James 5:15
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.

Living for the moment makes everything more special.

Congratulations, Brenda, it is always good to be a winner; but the real win is in the attitude you write about here...faith-based living one day at a time, trusting in God.

...And a wise motto it is, dear Brenda! Unfortunately, people realize it late in their life or never realize it! Some spend their life lingering in the past or dreaming of the future and leaving no time for the present. I wish more people followed your motto for better off they would be! Excellent didactic work and verse!

Great write Brenda. My friend worked more than one job, like mad, earning lots and planning for the future. Heart attack...he died...revived after 10 mins. Born anew...a different man....living for the moment, enjoying life with moderation and taking it easy. He is happy, looks healthy and on top of the world! He lives by your motto! // paul

Truly an outstanding piece dear...There are two roads you can take..feel sorry for yourself and get wrapped up in depression or be strong, pull yourself up by the bootstraps and move forward........live life Brenda....hugs and love Tim

Strangely enough Tim, I was never depressed. Maybe because I was to week and had resigned to the fact my time was up. My only regret was leaving my sons, then 19&24 orphaned. Now I look at life as a gift and this theme is perfect for how I try to live.

Brienda, I'll be honest with you I am slowly losing my sight and there is nothing I can do about it, the doctors say I will lose it when I'm in my earily 60 but I've made piece with this fact, but I enjoy everyday that I can see, because life is to short to worry about such things, I have my family to enjoy, and I will live, so that's enough for me, so I write to leave my grad-children a legacy, so they'll always have a piece of me around and in my work they can know what I believed and thought

Dear Brienda,Great poem of streigth and faith you have alot of talent my friend I wanted to say this right off the bat, I'm glad you have become one of my new friends here on the soup, I understand your poetry better then some, I can relate so well to your poetry. I grew in a small place off the beaten path, so my home common scense style you write is refreshing and gives off a warmth that is simply excellent to my inner soul. This is a great work, keep them coming, cheri
