I Matter
I MATTER
Sometimes I ponder about my importance
Wondering about my worth to my Lord
Does God really care about little ole me?
Then the answer comes as I read His word
Consider the beautiful lilies of the fields
Consider the birds soaring through the air
God deems all them worthy of His attention
How much more for His children does he care
He knew me while still in the womb
His plan for me already laid out
He knows every inch of my being
The hairs on my head, He has count
Through the multitude of prayers He receives everyday
My humble, silent prayer somehow makes it to His ears
In my quiet room He sits and listens
And vanquishes all my worries and fears
He has never forsaken me as others have
Wrapped around me is always His loving arms
To keep me safe through the turbulent storms
To comfort me when others do me harm
When I am mocked for being His child
He gives me the strength to stand my ground
As they taunt and laugh with hateful hearts
I tell them all of the joy I have found
All my needs He supplies and some of my wants
My blessings are many...some are unbeknownst
From dangerous unseen perils He steers me away
And protects me from unknown foes ready to pounce
For me He gave the ultimate sacrifice
Down to Earth, His only begotten Son He sent
Freed from sin; I will no longer perish
How important to Him I must have meant
So next time I’m down and feeling insignificant
That I have little value. My life is in tatters
I will remind myself of all He’s done for me
I will hold my head high and exclaim, “I matter!”
