I Love You Because You'Re Gone

I Love You Because You're Gone I loved you when you were alive, Though our time was short. I believe if we'd had forever, It never would have worked. I loved your bright side, But your dark was wrong. I think I only love you now, Because you are gone. I'm sure, though all these years have passed, My love for you would not have last. If you were still alive today, I'm sure I'd loath you with dismay. But that didn't happen, It was meant to be this way. Now I get to love you, For all eternity.

Memories often provoke deep insight like this and that helps burnish the memories. You said it well. Wow is right.

Wow, Alycia, such deep contemplation and introspection within your beautiful poetic lines. Sometimes, its easier to love the 'good' memories of the dearly departed than it was to love them, in their totality, in life. A deep and thought provoking poem.. I enjoyed the emotions conveyed that caused me to lingered with your write.. I would term this as a 'Free Verse' poem. A great poem! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thank you so much. It's nice to hear such positive feedback. I often don't know what my poetry category should be so it's sweet of you to tell me. I'm quite complemented by your understanding of my emotions and thoughts from this writing.
