I Love Those Contests

 
I love the daily contests of a "certain" member,
and see it as a wonderful opportunity to write;
to write just for the love of writing-   with wings,
to dust off an old poem and breathe new life into it.

Never, ever has it been claimed to be anything else,
but a fun ride- never anything other than what it is;
monopoly is a word that can apply to all the contests,
when we write a poem and enter it in any contest.

Well, I can only speak for myself I would miss them,
I look forward each morning to see if I placed;
and if I did wonderful, if not no matter, I enter again,
its all for fun- for the fun of poetry- for the sake of poetry.

And to me it is harmless, and  I want more and more,
so dear "certain" poet, keep them coming is my opinion ;
(and did I mention that these contest boost confidence),
if you don't place, or get an honorable mention-   so what !

They give me hope that poetry will be around for a long time; and writing for the fun of it is the ultimate goal for Trixie and I. So I love this poem!
