I Look For Stars
our meeting
a casual conversation
breakfast and promise
but a phone number lost
and memories linger
over prairies plains distance
I look for stars
do you?
a place on roadmaps
I come to again
just off the off ramp
fields grown
a factory repurposed
but beyond light
I look for stars
a glistening runway
an airport preserved
private flights only
or helicopters
of the National Guard
the sky is clear
I look for stars
radars poised
soothsayers and prophets
look for weather fronts
county roads
a stretch of fields
touches clear skies
clouds pass like dreams
intimacy recalled
a timeless poem
a classified I post
I look for stars
do you?
