I Just Found Out

I just found out that I have three months to live.
Only three months until the cancer that has grown
without my knowledge takes my life.
My doctor has known for some time,
But I just found out.
Less than a hundred times
I will see the sun rise to light the earth
Less than a hundred times
I will longingly watch its parting glow
Wondering if I will be there to see it again,
Hoping that I will have the grace to leave
In such resplendent glory.
Wondering what life would have been like
If I had been given the chance to marry and have children,
To grow old and retire; but I only have three months...
And I just found out.

What a terrifying thought, to know you will only see those things less than a hundred times more. You penned this expertly, Isaiah! Like Eileen, I hope this is fictional...

I hope to God this isn't true, Isaiah. You have worded this so beautifully. Life is indeed a blessing that we take for granted. Many fight this monster and it has claimed many lives. I wish...I wish a cure would finally be found.
