I have been on a long journey-
the road I have traveled has been a rocky one
I have wept my tears
my sky is often black as ink
in a life of dangerous curves and hanging cliffs
where deep sadness wraps me tight
and a giant storm traps me in swirling clouds
but, it seems that I am a survivor of yesterdays
for I come out the other side into the sun . . .
it is time for me to fly
time to open my eyes and take a leap
to plunge into the unknown and to believe in me
to soar and find myself . . .
no more will I hang my head like a dying flower
I have made peace with the past at last
the door is padlocked and chained
nightmares and ghosts must hide away
now, it is time to make each moment count
and it is limitless where I will go . . .
one day at a time and one step at a time
I will float like a ship in an endless sea . . .
this journey begins within me
I want to make a difference in the world
and accept that it is not a race
but a dance of life
I want to enjoy the journey
each and every little stepping stone . . .
time for this butterfly to try her wings
my life will be full of open spaces
I will drift with the storms in life
hopping a ride upon a swirling cloud
I am ready to sail across the sky-
