I Had a Dream

I had a dream.
You came to me,
Crept into my room
And climbed into my bed,
Wrapped yourself around
My sleepy warm body.
You gave me sweet love
As I gently awoke
And I asked you to stay
Stay awhile……..

I had a dream.
You came to me
Like the first time.
I heard your steps
On my cold wood floor.
I couldn’t see,
The night was so black.
I felt you slide into
My warm comfy bed.
I knew it was you.

But it wasn’t the same,
Something between us
And we had both aged.
The sweet love was gone
Of those bygone years.
We hugged and we kissed
And gazed into our eyes.
We saw only sadness
From hurtful events.
I asked you to stay
But you went your own way…….

I had a dream
And I asked you to stay
Stay awhile…………
