I Guess It Wasn'T All That Bad

Looking back, in retrospect, life must have been good
For I stand as the man I am because of my past
It may have been rough, clouded and quite painful
But, a life that contributes for a positive effect
Is in itself a positive life and one to be thankful of

I may not be all that others are
Or even have all that others have
But, I have me, I have my own values
And through my doing, my choices and my family
I now stand as a person of importance

I stand before you as a testament to many facts
Life can be a brutal force constantly pounding you
But, with hope, there exists light outside the darkness
Children, through abuse, can learn strength within themselves
That will help them bend with mighty winds, rather than break

Within all the friends we choose to let in
There may be only one that will stand the test of time
Being there when you truly need them, for inspiration, hope and care
So, it’s best to be grateful for allowing many, even though one stayed
Lastly, faith, that remains the guide for the remainder of our lives, keep it

Inspired by a new friend here on this website. Thank you, Christie
