I Give You My Heart
I carefully searched in all my closets for something I held precious I could give to you.
I pulled out everything I possessed but nothing I found would do.
I proceeded from the basement to the attic; I ripped the whole house apart.
After a desperate search, all I could find worthy to lay at your feet was my heart.
When I was lost in the dark, searching for that rainbow's end,
It was made clear the rainbow in and all around me and also in me and everlasting friend.
All that I own would not suffice and would not even fill a small cart.
I have nothing of carnal value to add to our glory, so I lay before you my heart.
Now there are no sorrows in the day’s events, only joyous tears.
There has been a permeation of the soul and a wiping away of all fears.
I have nothing but praise and song for you of whom I am a part.
For this healthy mind and body and gifts of love, I give you my heart.
