I Found Them After Thirty Years

I found them after thirty years
Accidentally on Social Media
Not really looking but delighted any way.

They found me back, and we were girls again.
Giggling 4th graders, plotting 3rd graders, silly 2nd graders.
Two of us went back to Kindergarten, played with blue playdough.

I had never missed them.
I had forgotten them.
They felt exactly the same way about me.

We get together now every year or so.
Laughing in our silly ways.
Two of us stay up until we fall asleep on the couch, exhausted.

One goes to bed early.
When she does we make fun of her and call her names.
Third graders in sixty-year-old bodies.
Nothing better!

Aha, Caren! I see now what's one thing that keeps you so bubby and young -)) Panagiota

It helps to be surrounded with my elementary school "besties" for sure!

I have a childhood friend that lives just a few miles away, but it seems we only see each other at someone's wake. We usually have to go outside because we are having to much fun reliving old times. Your poem reminds me of him. I need to give him a call. Thanks for the reminder Caren!

I am so hoping that you called him. Get together and laugh your guts out. You might be running out of wakes!

That's the best way to be, at that age!

This is so sweet Caren. Nothing better than sharing memories with old friends who encourage healing laughter and expressing shared dreams! I enjoyed reading this. Old friends keep us young! xxoo : )

We get crazy when we see each other, screaming and yelling shrieking and laughing. We used to remember lots of stories. Most of them are gone, now we laugh about current things.
