I Felt Like Ifl
Everything happened as though a dream,
Though it left in me a permanent gleam;
My imprisonment, for no fault of mine, was fixed,
Treason - they said - feelings in me got mixed;
Neglecting the National anthem - the F.I.R said,
Thinking of what's going to dawn made me dread;
News Papers had already foreseen my end,
Life imprisonment, to such persons, was the day's trend;
My advocate, though knew matters clearly, shun,
As though, in my case, intricacies, spun;
Nightmares in me, of dark cells, appeared often,
As though, I, from there, straight went into my coffin?
It's, then, my neighbor, whom I had hated,
For his social status, which, I felt, had outdated;
Who knew me well that I was, in truth, patriotic,
And felt how my life, then, had gone chaotic;
Being a legal practitioner, he took up my case,
Enabled me to be free from the clutches, by grace;
How would I ever in my repay him?
I felt like kissing him till my heart's very brim...!!!
