I Fall For This Payday
A dropper of winsome Fall
in my cat-eye irises.
I fall for this payday of
solitude and promise.
God’s mercy and grace
in the Southern places
of my soul, playfully sourced -
Autumn in living color.
I saunter the shadows of treetops,
burns of yellows and reds -
sardonyx swirls of prose
amidst the evergreens.
A cool cat on the prowl,
not seeking a victim,
but relationship in this season
with open arms, ready
for blessings like raindrops,
showers from head to toe,
a sea of leaves to sink the teeth
into - life’s ebb and flow.
