Notes About The Poem

I Dreamt of the Sea

What a place to find much-needed peace of mind,
to cast all nagging woes of the day aside.
This is the place to be; such an ideal place...
                                              right by the shoreline.

I actively listened with my eyes sealed shut
as the wind took turns whistling and speaking
in whispers, revealing its long-held secrets...
                                               ones I'll never share!

Hermit crabs were crawling about the wet sand.
Great White Egrets were feeding in the shallows.
I watched the waves splash against the jagged rocks....
                                              as I looked for shells.

Avid surfers were gliding on their surfboards
Children on the beach were building sandcastles;
the bright midday sun reflected off the tides...
                                              I dreamt of the sea!

Edward, as did I whence I was elsewhere, yet now I'm home again, tho' my sandcastles are in the air, I'm glad to live my reality and have my dreams. A wondrous piece my friend, with my compliments, Aloha!

this captures the wonderful images and feelings associated of being at a beach. I love beaches but rarely have been able to be at them because I live inland. VERY well done with your first place, Edward. Congratulations on your win.

I hope it was a warm beech and you needed no addition covers like in England! Your poem takes us to the beech which we cannot go to because of lockdown! Thanks for a free trip!

Ugh, I wish I lived near a beach instead of indulging in daydreams, lol. Thanks for the comments and visit, Krish:-)
