I Dreamed a Dream

I Dreamed a Dream?

I had a dog – a tiny Eskimo
who loved me very much. Nevertheless,
I had to let my cherished doggie go.
This situation caused me such distress.

He was adopted, or so I’d been told.
And there was nothing I could do but grieve.
Was he ok? He had been getting old.
What happened later some may not believe!

One night a few years later, from my sleep,
I woke! My dog before me I could see!
I held my arms out and he took a leap
into them. I then hugged him close to me.

I dreamed a dream? Perhaps. . . but what if my
dear doggie’s soul had come to tell me bye?

- Our logical thinking does not dominate the imagination or intuition of a dream, Andrea :) - Congratulations on your winning poem - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Andrea, I think it is possible. I know we can become so attached to a pet and they become attached to us. Thanks for dropping by. Sara

My dog had some bad habits and my hubbie just could not deal with them any longer (we had even hired a trainer to help us but to no avail). I had that dog a long time but finally gave him up to PetSmart. They have a "no kill" policy on their adoptions, so I sincerely believe he lived on a few more years and then he visited me on his way out of this realm. I have to believe that. No animal ever loved me as much as Ollyver did.

The dream manifested true bond between you and your dog. Love has special powers. A great theme, Andrea.

thanks for saying that. I sure do hope it was real because I felt it was so real compared to the dream that came after that one, in which I was roaming the streets with my dog.

Thanks for believing he was there. I was unable to get that part into my sonnet, but I was able to FEEL his soft fur and smell him. It was all so REAL. Then I feel into dream in which I was wandering the streets with my Ollyver. I truly think that he had visited me on his way out of this earthly plain. It is the closest I ever came to a spiritual experience.
