I Dream Poetry...

I write all the time...sometimes even as I sleep, I dream of words and lines that collide to

become my next poem or verse. Sobriety has awaken me and the once lost inner man that

was hidden by a thick shell of emptiness and words that were once trapped inside of him,

now flow from his mind. A new man has emerged from his cocoon that was lost in a glass

full of lost promises and dreams that never really came true. As I dream of the letter” A” it

starts my poem and it ends as spell out the word wonderful to conclude the poem, I awaken

then write it down. As I day dream on a beach of white pearl like sand and sip on a fruity

drink another poem enters my head...”Regal white beaches that were once as empty as a

dessert now filled with people who gather around the beaches edges like a herd of

wildebeest grazing on the great majestic African plains." Were these words come from I don’t

know, but they gather on one side of my brain and then they merge on the freeway of

nerves that lead to my hand. Over taken by my erg to hurry to write them down, I stop all

other activities until I have recorded each word or thought down on piece of paper. I

dreamed of poetry...now I will write it down.

This is much the same way I receive inspiration, Jay. But we have to capture those words and images quickly, don't we, or they seem to disappear. Very nice description of the creative process. Love, Carolyn
