I Dream of a Better Day
Tears cannot wash my sadness away,
mourning memories of yesterday.
And yet, today, little can be done,
awaiting tomorrow's cleansing sun.
Falling in love's a matter of trust,
for passion is oft fueled by lust.
And lately, I'm feeling led astray;
by the deceitful games people play.
Betrayal builds love's funeral pyre
while lies compete to ignite the fire.
Like a phoenix, hope rises from ash,
only to burn within anger's flash.
Time echoes what my feelings convey,
that true love is only a cliché.
And yet, desire continues to bait
a lonely heart: in its broken state.
Peering into the core of my soul
is like staring down an empty hole.
And so, I dream of a better day;
away from the hurtful things you say.
