I Don'T Hate Mondays--Picture 1
I know... my shirt says I hate Mondays
And while I appreciate the donation
I've no intentions of shooting children
and becoming the next media sensation...
...just because it's Monday
Actually any day I still breathe, I feel blessed
And lately one day just runs into the next
So, no, I don't hate Mondays, it's just like the rest
I was taught not to hate, but there are things I don't like
Like... hauling dirty water which we lack due to the drought
Don't like lying to my little brother, saying everything will be ok
Nor the delirium this level of hunger and thirst has brought about
I don't like the earth drying up and looking like bark
and the trees bearing no leaves, and the animals dying
Don't like the stench of death that permeates the stagnant air
Nor sleepless nights I lay in the fetal position, crying
I don't like my parents feeling guilty that they can't provide more
and hoping we don't get ill, without doctors how would we ever survive?
I no longer dream about going to school one day, and I've lost the urge to play
So, no I don't hate Mondays, whatever day it is, I'm just happy we're all still alive
