Notes About The Poem

I Did It My Way

'I did it my way'... he confessed in song;
and, 'when I face the final curtain'... he
went on. Those words, so relevant and strong,
present a blueprint of how life should be.

Our chosen goals should be a special find
that backs the values guarded by the heart.
With talents offered, shaped by hand and mind;
our soul will be at rest when we depart.

Not led by circumstances at the time,
inspired by fads or laws that come and go;
to 'do it my way'... retrogress or climb ...
the effort keeps our final peace aglow.

'I did it my way'... how those words will lift
us past the 'final curtain' as we drift.
