I Curse You Again

sipping on thoughts like that first cup of coffee
i watch the morning sun as it blushes
beneath the swirls of gray

another storm is coming
i see the reflection
through her eyes
that darkness, as it lingers
before the rain falls

i hear the thunder rumble within her voice
feel the fear of the unknown
as she speaks through winded words

i sit swirling my thoughts
like little leaves in a breeze
then fall silent within her storm's grasp

i feel that familiar rain
stain my cheek within its trail
one drop lingers at the edge of my lips
as memories invade my mind
i taste her pain then curse cancer again

Thank you John, it is a battle no one wants to fight, I knew that topic would spark something in me....sometimes my muse needs that inspirational pull....she can be stubborn!

Thank you Sandy, those who know you have been missing your poetic perceptions and those who don't can see what they have missed.

Wow, thank you so much Craig, mainly thanks for hosting this contest, one that was perfect timing to bring my muse out of hiding...it is a time in my life where i have relived my mother's death because a dear poetic friend of mine that is like family is fighting the very hard battle against cancer...i needed to write my pain so thank you, and a big thank you for your kind words :)

The personification of cancer like a storm is brilliant, it really caught me off guard, I guess that was the intent and it succeeded. Just Wow!!

Thank you for your kind reply! Tough subject to write on but not near as tough as the fight many face

A disturbing thought. I hope this is a fictional account. The poem is well and artistically expressed. Hugs Rick.

Not fictional sadly. A poetic friend of mine that’s very close to me is battling lung cancer. I lost my mother to cancer so it brought back some emotions
