I Could Have Been

I COULD HAVE BEEN…

in Israel
my heart
with Israel
with Americans
who have lost loved
ones…been kidnapped
I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE
we had a plan
am I glad of my escape
my family doesn’t have to worry
but my heart is there
is there under the earth
in craven caverns
in the despair
of an army of civilians
forced to suffer
a holo-cost!
can you hear
the babies crying
old women’s bones, groaning
women scared to pieces
for their little ones
brave soldiers
those civilians
As they shudder
is God setting up the cell
for those who will end up
in hell forever-
those who would take
the celebrants
that danced, laughed,
praised just a few moments before.
They will again…
but for now we weep,
keep vigil and
vigilant.

Hi Kim, heartbreaking what is going on. No chance of peace until the leadership of Iran is destroyed. But if Israel hits Iran, that will prompt intervention from Russia and China...and I am almost certain that Obama will not support such action. I fear they will be on their own. Said state of affairs. Israel is in my prayers.

The Hamas will never learn the meaning of peace and compassion. Good thing you escaped. Blessings.

My dad-in-law was worried because he didn’t know when we were going. That’s the thing…peace, love, compassion. May God and his angel armies surround those who have been kidnapped.

Two very close friends of mine just got back from Israel. We are devastated by the news of what is happening. In America we complain about the price of gas and beer. We would never survive in the real world.

Think twice before we complain. Thank God for our blessings. Pray. So glad your friends are back safe.

I thank you for this, Kim... I myself am blessed to have a son there, on military reserve duty now. So far, he's seen no action and his face reads like, 'What war?!' Oh, to be 26 again, eh?! Thank you, again. Blessings, gw

I have been thinking of you, my friend. The innocent goes into the fire not knowing. Likewise, my daughter is a very busy accountant and she didn’t know either. I told her to look it up…it is a big deal! Hugs, dear one.

A powerful and poignant poem, Kim! It’s hard to watch what’s going on there now without feeling sad, angry and helpless…
