I Chose To Stay

I raised him from day one. Nothing you say will change, that He is My son. He may have been born of your womb; But without him; My heart and soul are a tomb. The tender memories we created; are etched on our souls. They can not be wiped clean. They are beyond your control. I'm secure in the love we hold. Despite the contrary stories you've told. He is my son. Born of my heart. I chose him right from the start. The truth is NOT a "story" that you can re-write with a pen. It has a beginning, and it has an end.

It is not. A dear friend, just lost her son to a GBM brain tumor. Mere months before entering hospice, his "birth mom" resurfaced. She had broken his arms as a baby, and left him. That is when my friend raised him as her own. BM lived in the same community as him all these years, never apologizing or contacting him. She resurfaced; her attempt to change the story, villianizing his mom. He passed away a month ago yesterday.

Would love ideas for an alternate title... not sure of this one.
