I Chose To Reminisce
Oh, you know how it is, you’re at that age,
you’ve lived your life, turned most every page.
You bump into someone you knew in school,
reminisce about so and so, trying not to be cruel.
Each record you hear is a memory past,
you find yourself saying ‘wow that’s gone fast!’
You’re constantly saying ‘hey remember when
we did this and that’ only to repeat it again.
You remember with ease those days long gone
but last week? Well whose bothered? Do you really belong?
You look in the mirror, it’s a different face,
in an alternate time, in an alternate place.
Then you’re off again with ‘it was better back then’,
but you know you were lucky. You’d live it again.
And the young ones, hey they just pass you by
you know perfectly well the reason why!
You did the same in your youth. You ignored
the one generation who may have sacrificed.
So, let’s reminisce. It’s well worth the price.
