I Caught a Snowflake

I caught a snowflake on my tongue,
falling from the clouded gray sky.
Another hit my lash; it clung,
then added a tear to my eye.

Falling from the clouded gray sky,
dancing upon a frigid breeze.
Then added a tear to my eye,
in this cold winter freeze.

Dancing upon a frigid breeze,
trodden paths are hidden.
In this cold winter freeze,
where sometimes warmth is forbidden.

Trodden paths are hidden,
snowflakes dance to a silent tune.
Where sometimes warmth is forbidden,
allow its dance not end so soon.

Snowflakes dance to a silent tune,
another hit my lash; it clung.
Allow its dance not end so soon,
I caught a snowflake on my tongue…
