I Cast Away Love

¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ a rosy cheek,
¦¦¦ a coral lip ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ starlike eyes ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦
Fuel ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ his fires;
As ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ these decay,
¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ flames ¦¦¦¦ waste away.

But a ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ steadfast mind,
Gentle thoughts ¦¦¦ calm desires,
¦¦¦¦¦¦ with ¦¦¦¦¦ love combined,
Kindle ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ fires.
¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦
¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦¦¦

No tears, ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ shall win
My ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦ heart to return;
I ¦¦¦¦ searched thy soul within,
And find ¦¦¦¦¦¦ ¦¦¦ pride and scorn;
I ¦¦¦¦ learned ¦¦¦ arts, ¦¦¦ ¦¦¦

Have you been looking through the watergate files Lin lol! so many redactions, and you appear to have created a pretty intense legible poem, from the little titbits you left in, innovative writing from you, cheers David

Ha David. Probably not as many as in the Epstein files. It's called blackout poetry. One of the new challenges offered by TPS. PS has gotten rather stale for me, so I thought I'd try a few of them. It seems a crime to edit the poetry of others who the site calls, "famous," but what the heck... they're probably all dead anyway. Thanks for your thoughts.

It sounds awful to pick apart another poet’s verses but the challenge of giving them a new meaning, although perhaps somewhat skewed, is on the table. It’s part of the new fun & games feature on the site.

Oh Lin, I really do not like these blackout poems.... I dont see the point of them to be honest... How do we know what the words are behind the blocks? 🤔 I do like the emojis though... not that I used them much.. 😊 I can understand you casting away love thought, I feel the same and have no need for romantic love... life is great as it is ✨. I realise, I should be commenting on your poem.. but I find it difficult without all the words.. maybe you will enlighten me ✍️📖😊

I comprehend what you’re saying. It really is the massacre of a poem, isn’t it? Not yet have i massacred one of my own. lol if anyone is interested enough to wonder what the blackouts are hiding, the author and poem title is listed beneath the blackout. I value your compliment of my poetry. Thank you. Meh about the emojis. I’d rather offer my feelings with words.
