No, I can’t afford to lose you In this craziness called life Though the madness presses in And I cannot still the strife I can’t afford to lose you now No, I can’t afford to lose you Though I’m catatonic now In the nothingness of thought The need to reconnect somehow I can’t afford to lose you now No, I can’t afford to lose you My yearning’s penned upon this page Fighting all constraints of time I reach out past my hidden rage I can’t afford to lose you now No, I can’t afford to lose you Your words: a needed, calming grace Weaving in my troubled mind glowing wisdom I can trace No, I can’t afford to lose you now Not now Not ever No, I WILL NOT lose you now! I know that you've had life filled to the brim lately, Eileen, so you're excused for staying away:) Man does not live only on bread:) The emotions in this poem are understandable; there are things/people we come to depend on and somehow become indispensable. The repeated lines are effective and make sense. Hugs // paul

Your words convey the depth of your feelings. The strength and power of your love came through your words and into my heart... and stuck there like a magnet. Emile.

Beautiful write Eileen, feelings expressed here are definitely communicated to the reader, especially the refrain gives it a song like feel. Well done as always!

My dream is to be able to write really good lyrics. I wish I could write a song that would live on after me. Dreams...dreams. Thanks for the visit, John.

I forced myself out of my "solitary confinement." I won't bear to lose touch with those who are dear to me, Richard. I'm glad you liked the poem. You inspired it.

:) I hope so too, Charlie. I've been silent here for some time. Life has been very involved. We invest in those we love, despite the inconveniences. I appreciate your visit.

Yes, I've tasted that sting before. The wounds don't heal. As far as possible, I'll do all in my power to keep my loved ones active in my life. Thanks for the visit, dear.

"From out of the darkened wilderness you came and brought music to my soul like that played from a fine crafted violin"...your poem reminded me of something I had written in another time another place..the emotion of your poem was what I connected with dear poet
