I Can Hear the Sound of Blue - Contest

I hear the sound of blue,
It is the shallow hitched breathing I hear when my niece cries,
It is the raindrops tink tinkling onto the window late at night,
It is the soft, down sigh that escapes from my lovers lips.
I hear the sound of blue.

I hear the sound of blue,
When I stretch early morning and hear the birds sing,
I know the open expanse of blue sky will greet me.
When I hear the soft call of the ocean within a shell,
Or even hear the swish of the gentle waves.
I hear the sound of blue.

I hear the sound of blue,
But I have never seen its color.
Never seen the azure setting of the sky late at night,
I have never watched the way blue paint stains hands,
Or saw the light shining through topaz earrings.
I have never seen the way blue blends across the sky in a rainbow,
Nor seen the glow of blue within my own eyes.
I can only imagine the sight of the Northern Lights,
But I can hear, the sound of blue.

I wonder if this is how the blind perceive color. Interesting poem, Jay. Congrats!

This priceless gem reads like a sightless person's perspective on color...I can only imagine...The repeating lines at the first and last of each verse are EXTREMELY compelling and effective...Congrats to you Jay - Tim

Jay Loveless, I love this poem in that you want to hear the sound of a color articulated in such a descriptive way almost like one hand clapping which is tough. GREAT WRITE!

I can deeply relate to these feelings. Though, I can say I have seen the azure skies while driving on an open highway. It was breathtaking. I highly enjoyed what you did here.
