I Believed the Lord - Psalm 116: 10-19
Affliction has various effects
but must not topple my belief
so easy to fill self in alarm
the lies of mankind bring grief
Come to the Lord calling His name
lifting up the cup of salvation
thanking God for all His benefits
accomplished in His plan of redemption
Keep your vows before God's people
in their presence give it to the Lord
remember how precious in God's sight
His saints passing onto the heavenly cord
The Lord's servant is what I am
to serve Him only is my aim
for God has loosed my bonds
so now be His constant living flame
Give God my sacrifice of thanksgiving
calling in His name forevermore
in His presence obey Him always
praise the Lord with a mighty roar
("I believed, even when I spoke:
“I am greatly afflicted”;
I said in my alarm,
“All mankind are liars.”
What shall I render to the Lord
for all his benefits to me?
I will lift up the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord,
I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his saints.
O Lord, I am your servant;
I am your servant, the son of your maidservant.
You have loosed my bonds.
I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call on the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!")
