I Believe

I believe in the goodness within mankind, Even though I have seen good evidence against it. I believe that there is good in very nearly everything, Even though that often seems impossible. I believe that bad situations can be mended, That when something is broken, it can always be fixed. I believe that it is never time to give up, even when it all seems hopeless. And even when the odds are piled high against you. I believe in the strength of human willpower, And our unbelievable, uncanny habit of always pulling through. I believe that there is at least a little good in every single person, Even if sometimes they can see fit to do wrong. I don't believe in absolutes. There is no such thing as total failure, Then again, there is no win without sacrifice and loss either. Life is a balancing act, and we are all trapeze artists in some sense or other, And I believe we can choose to embrace that and enjoy it, if we like. I believe in the little things, the small things, the little gestures. I believe in the warmth of friendships freely given. I believe in giving back for everything I receive And I believe in hope, in honesty, in love, in balance and in peace. Perhaps these are not beliefs, so much as they are ideals, But I do believe in myself and I know that I have the strength in me, To always take the high road, to rise above and to ignore, Even if it is the hardest thing I ever do, I believe that my life is worth it.
