Notes About The Poem

I Awake Alone

I awake....alone
at times like this
it seems...
I'm forever alone
the bed is empty
no human form
I'm alone

Well, that's not completely true
I have a bedfellow
He keeps me awake
chases my dreams away.....
Mr Insomnia is attention mad
it's all about him
and that makes him glad
He wants his loving...
and the hours pass
they pass

Dawn chases him away
Gives me another lover
Slumber comes to bed me
sinks in and has his way...
a gentle sway
rocks me deep
rocks me slow
takes me places
he wants to go

Tired...
he tires of me
leaves in a hurry
no afterglow
or dreamy flow

Rude awakening
I'm alone
again
alone....
Alone to think
alone to know
that it is so:

another trip
another....
"It's work, Babe.
What can I do?
A strong woman,
make this work for you."
another tear
another sigh
another time
for another cry

Alone...
Insomnia comes and goes
Slumber comes and goes
the days pass
in haunting haze
adding to
my inner craze
alone

Underlying theme?
Devise a scheme
Make real the dream:

a peaceful forever alone...

Eileen

Perhaps when we are able to just be, we will discover that what we have is more then we could ever possibly want. When we pine for wishes we are unable to experience the amazing that has been gifted to us in the now. These are my thoughts after reading your response to Demetrios.

I have never suffered from insomnia, Eileen, but once in a blue moon, if I go to bed very late, I find it hard to sleep, maybe because of being over tired, and it's not a nice thing! I suppose being alone at home is one reason why you feel like this. Having family around you soon should partly solve the problem. hugs // paul

Efkharisto...gia ta filakia. :) Esai poli kalos! Ah....the loneliness will abate. The next week or so will be mad. I have family coming tonight...my husband tomorrow night....my father, Thursday night...It will be a mad house...and perhaps I will long to be alone again. :) That is life....we never have what we want. Hugs, dear one.
