I Ask Thee Why?
If it be truth
and truth thy goal
why doth thee shy away
from heated, flyin' hooves -
when yearling foals kick high above
the rooves into the sky?
If it be truth in fine ripe youth
this frenzy of activity
then truth be truth and not aloof
as age becomes reality.
But why - I ask thee why?
Why dost thou kick so high
to then return eternally
to live your life internally
externally so shy?
Why oh why do stars so high
up in God's grand and ramient sky
burn and glimmer blue for you...not I?
I ask thee why my dear,
My dearest Emily;
Oh my oh my I ask thee why
You dear and precious child?
I ask thee my sweet Emily;
Why.....oh why?
Author Notes
Emily - Refers to the life-long reclusive genius
Emily Dickinson who gave us insights into all aspects
of our world with the erudite wisdom of Aristotle and
the biting insiteful brevity of Lao Tsu and she exposed
the idiosyncratic nature of our world without ever leaving hers. easy
