I Am the Rain God
I am the rain god, and I fear no one.
The wind god and the sun god fear me though.
I have no idea why. I am not intimidating.
Merely myself.
Showering the earth with drops that turn huge
When I am in a bad mood, or disappointed.
Pelting the ground with angry tears when I am hurt.
But most of the time…
I am a gentle god,
Giving myself freely to the earth,
Nurturing trees and flowers,
Giving my liquid self to animals who cannot live without me
This includes the two-legged creatures
Who pollute my oceans, my creeks, my rivers, my streams.
Sometimes I want to withhold all water from them.
But I am the rain god, and must be responsible and kind sometimes.
So today is your lucky day.
You may bathe in my ocean
But if you pollute it, I will send the nightmare god
And he will see that your slumber is less than peaceful.
This is the advantage of having a cousin like that.
