I Am that I Am

Line of inquiry:
“a heartbeat pulsating as living light
free from each and every limitation
I Am that dwelling in unbound delight 
the source wherefrom arises creation”- Unseeking Seeker

‘I Am’- the Word was there at the beginning
‘The Word was with God and the Word was God’
Even before life evolved out of chaos on this Earth,
As an unseen presence, over waters, His spirit moved.

He was there before the sun and moon began shedding light 
Before stars in silent splendor gleamed in the sky
Before the world was partitioned into land and water
Before anything spectacular was created to catch the eye. 

Soon He willed the world to be bright and made the sun 
Created oceans and seas that sang in tidal hymns
Made for men plains and prairies, mounts and hills
Now the world with his overwhelming glory, brims 

Gave seasons that come and go in rhythmic rotation
Sweet spring with silky drizzle, moving wind and roaring thunder
Warm summer, colorful autumn and chilly winter
Filling the world with mysteries, making us wonder

He dwells where no mortal eye can reach
His luminous light gleams making the world bright
He charts the trajectory of heavenly bodies
Holding the planets and the stars in places right

He rules the world without a scepter or crown
The great Alpha and Omega of the universe
Who has been, who is and who will be-
Controlling everything, creating life forms diverse.

Free from all blemishes and every limitation,
As the quintessence of all that is desirable,
He is the source and fountain of seamless delight
The great Mastermind, omnipresent and indescribable.

Silent One September 5, 2026 at 9:48 AM A beautiful and deeply reverent reflection on God as the eternal “I Am.” I loved how the poem moves from his existence before creation, through the formation of the heavens and seasons, to his continuing presence and sovereignty over all things. A great response to the enquiry and something different also.. I like the way you weave the biblical “I Am” and “The Word” into images of stars, oceans, seasons. Best of luck in the contest.
