I Am Scared

Warnings are given School schedules on hold Evacuation notice Echoes of years ago Rushing to Jounieh port Under cover of night The harbor being shelled “NO lights NO lights!!!! Not even a cigarette Get on the speed boat Hurry…HURRY!" Cyprus…a blessed few hours away If only we can speed away On this fastest speed boat in the world Sent to rescue I’m going to be sick Waves hitting the windows As we listen for the sound of whistling bombs Listening Waiting to be blown out of the water Will we make it? Will we make it???? Palpable tension in the suffocating darkness Now…TODAY Memories struggling to gain attention "Restrict movement No again unnecessary trips War is around the corner Be careful!" I’m scared But mostly.... I’m tired The sounds of war… have not yet died out from my ears The sights of devastation… have not yet left my vision The fear of death has not yet left my heart And now…. It resurfaces Pulling out of the tomb The ghost of war passed NOW…new threats New dreams on hold Lives again on HOLD ON HOLD We were not meant to dream We were not meant to live Free I’m sick I’m sick of hearing about it I’m sick of the world being silent I’m sick of worrying about where to go… I’m sick of thinking of those who will die And the country that will be left In utter anarchy and chaos As the others in the region This region of bloodshed and strife… “There shall be wars and rumors of wars Nation shall rise against nation Because iniquity shall abound The love of many shall wax cold There shall be earthquake Pestilence Distress of Nations Famine Signs in the sun, moon, and stars When these things begin to come to pass LOOK UP FOR YOUR REDEMTION DRAWETH NIGH.” These are the signs of the times He is coming He is at the door…. Heaven will burst open And He will come triumphant AND EVERY EYE SHALL SEE HIM.... Nothing secret about His coming ARE YOU READY FOR THE COMING PRINCE OF PEACE? Then finally, FINALLY Worry and fear The bloodshed And every war WILL CEASE…. FINALLY Oh, LORD JESUS, FINALLY We can have P E A C E! Eileen Manassian Ghali

When you wrote this poem I was not yet on Soup and did not even know you existed, but I still remember the Syrian civil war spillover in Lebanon. Those deadly clashes must have been terrible. In this poem you project the hopelessness and helplessness of war, the fears and uncertainty. A fav for me. Love // paul

Eileen even if not the end of the world...yet..Jesus will always save us..and even those who died at war are saved..Their soul is rejoicing in heaven..Eileen you will live your dream..You will live your life..All will pass and you llbe safe..You ll never be alone Big hug

Don't worry, Jack. I'm sorry if I have made it bigger than it is....I will let you know how things develop. So far...life is normal and people are going to the beach and eating out. It's just good to take precautions..that's all. Please, don't get too worried. Maybe all will be well. HUGS...Love ya for caring....

I believe in the soon coming of Jesus Christ. Why? Because I believe He keeps his promises! :) Luke 21: 27- And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Though some may think me delusional, I believe in heaven where there is no death, sorrow, sickness, and pain. NO MORE WAR!!! Soon! Why does He wait? 2 Peter 3: 3 - 15 has the answer! :)
