I Am Poe

Though bitter winds embrace my soul
And my quill is filled with gloom
I write of the shadows I can't control
In a dark and empty room

My screams develop a will of their own
A sound my heart can't stand
But my path is chosen, it's written in stone
For reasons I don't understand

I'm drawn to the darkness instead of the light
As it suffocates my will
I can't write of the peace though try as I might
I'm cursed with an evil quill

I try to return to the place where I fell
But my steps are chosen in vain
'Tis a maze of circles where demons dwell
Mired in heartache and pain

They pretend not to notice as they read my verse
But how is it they do not know
They praise what I write in spite of my curse
The reason? because I am Poe
