I Am Me

I am me

 

Victim, survivor.

Prey and predator.

Weak yet strong,

Anxious but outraged.

 

You are not me,

You cannot feel my pain

Or walk my path.

For you are you.

 

The only me is the reflection the mirror presents.

The only me is MY soul, MY feelings, MY skin.

 

Do not pretend to know me.

Do not assume you know my fear.

Instead just listen.

Support without judgement.

Commit to raising change.

 

For I am me…

And you…

Are you.

I love this poem but especially am fond of this part because it is the best wisdom anyone can give anyone: "Instead just listen. Support without judgement." Very few people know this, and even when they do, they fail to implement it in its purity.
