I Am Inspired
I am inspired by the young people,
Making a difference in the world,
Still being led by stardust—
Magical moments of “I do,”
Having faith in humanity,
Hearing the sound of a newborn’s cry.
I am inspired by the old,
Their long tapestry of life
Followed like a map—
Twists and turns,
No mountains too high to climb.
I am inspired by the strength of carrying on,
In spite of a loss so profound,
Reaching for the stars in the darkness of life,
Praying that everyone has a soft place to fall
When the roads of life bring them down.
I am inspired by those lifting their voices in song,
Or penning prose that speaks to the soul.
Be my brother’s keeper;
Turn the other cheek.
I am still deeply inspired by the beauty of a lost world.
