I Am From
I am from land
rolling, vast expanses of farm and family.
I am from bicycle statues and railroad tracks,
walking daily circles around the town I knew.
I am from separation
changing schools, family, states, and life.
I'm from bickering and insults,
family ties cut and reknotted.
I am from passion and compassion,
fervor for art, friends, and existence:
ladder rings to grasp, keeping me from falling.
I am from moments and memories,
molding me from who I once was,
to the girl that I now am.
