I Am Bored With Music

Music blues I seem to have
Everything sounds the same.
I turn on the radio and
It just gives me pain.

Voices screaming identical
Kinds of beats
Pop songs blaring
All over the streets.

The average age now
has settled at thirteen
I can't understand
It's like a bad dream.

I long for the days
Of the gals with the soul
Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan
Their words made me whole.

Can we bring back some tunes
And singers with clout?
To write about real life
Sigh, I just doubt.

I wonder what you would have thought of Grass Roots, Creedance Clearwater, Three Dog Night or the Platters, just to name a few. I think there are more rock styles and groups than we could ever possibly name! This was fun to read. Congrats on your win.

I love bands who write their own music and own lyrics, way more meaningful to listen to and enjoy! I love to write lyrics as well as poetry and would love to turn on the radio and here a band signing my lyrics,(Maybe one da hey) Great poem, many congratulations to you x

Some of the music today bores me as well, Kristen, although there are some great newer artists out there like Alan Jackson and Jason Mraz. Enjoyed your poem as I can relate to the boredom with music that all sounds the same. Congratulations on your win, Love, Carolyn
